“A wise woman puts a grain of sugar into everything she says to a man, and takes a grain of salt with everything he says to her.” –Helen Rowland quotes (English-American writer, 1876-1950)
You could substitute teenager or a whole host of others to include and expand beyond men in this quote but let me start with the main audience I anticipate for this blog and that is women. It seems that I and perhaps by a rather broad inclusion many of us are most guilty of speaking rather saltily to others all the while expecting others to be very sweet in their discourse to us. So let me encourage as we begin to understand our communication and its impact that our words matter and even more still how we season them.
Another quote, this one from Elizabeth Elliott sums up my season of life….
When I was young I knew all the answers but no one asked me the questions.
Now I am old and everyone asks me questions but I don’t know any of the answers.
It has been my pleasure and privilege for the past
34 years to be walking with Jesus
25 years to be married to the same awesome man
24 years to be parenting nine children
18 years to be educating them at home and abroad
I am hoping to scratch at mostly the questions since recall I don’t have the answers and am striving to speak both with sugar and salt for I am a mass of contradictions.
Welcome
Be sweet,
Mary
