What a promise.
Perhaps like me when you hear, “That was easy.” You think of Staples. Staples claims that at least finding and ordering their offices supplies amid complex living is easy.
Here is another group’s take on easy. The United States Navy seals are known for saying,
This declaration is that what’s behind is easy. Implied is don’t look for easy in today.
I’ve been thinking about another source’s take on what is easy.
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. The Gospel of Matthew 11:28-30 King James Version
St. John Chrysostom tells us about this passage: Not this or that in a person but that all are in anxiety, in sorrows, in sins. Come not that I may call you to account, but that I may do away with your sins; come not because I want your honor, but because I want your salvation, “And I,” says he, “will give you rest.”
While today may be filled with hard decisions or difficult struggles with everyday tasks, I try to hold on to what is truly easy.
